For generations, the Campolmi company has been pursuing and passing on the ancient tradition of the art of wool, producing its own yarns for the knitting industry, for looms, and for hand working.Campolmi Filati has its origins in the haberdashery shop that Emilio and Ida Campolmi opened in the thirties. It was their son Giampaolo who, in 1954, decided to specialise in yarns. After much work and careful study, they began their own processing of the raw material, and the company bought the structure that we still see today. Over the years, their production has reached considerable levels of quality and quantity. Giampaolo also diversified the fields of activity thanks to his wife Vanna and their children Roberto and Carla, assisted by helpful staff. They have a large store located on Via Portinari (once “Via delle Pappe”), which was founded by Folco Portinari in 1288, father of the famous Beatrice di Dante, site of the kitchens of the ancient Ospedale di Santa Maria Nuova, just behind the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore.
