Giuliano Ricchi makes about 15,000 objects a year, all handmade at each step, using the ancient goldsmithing technique of Cellini: the so-called “lost wax” technique. His small, precious decorative articles are packaged in Florence and sold all over the world: Rome, Paris, Singapore, San Francisco, New York, etc. and, of course, Florence. Clients include: Officina di Santa Maria Novella and Poggi, as well as: Dior, Nina Ricci and Ballantyne, Harrod’s, Fortnum and Mason, and Vigent of Philadelphia. Even Bill Clinton, fascinated by this craftsman, bought a business card holder! Nothing has changed in this workshop since the 1800s; in the workshop, there are the rolling mill, the kiln, the polisher, the coining presses, and the sanders of the early 1900s. You can still meet Mr Ricchi, intent on working, in his workshop, with his burins, which the craftsman uses to “draw on steel” the decorations that he must then reproduce on these small but great jewels. The headquarters is in an ancient palace of the city nobility.
