The Donnini Cutlery Shop, originally known as Galli, was founded in the commercial area of Via Gioberti in Florence in 1930 by Vittorio Galli, a student of Bianda, a famous early 20th-century cutlery shop located in Piazza del Duomo. In 1957, at the age of 17, Mario Donnini was hired as an apprentice and later became a sharpening specialist. Mario took over from Vittorio Galli in 1978. In 1991, Leonardo, Mario’s son, began his apprenticeship as a sharpener. Since 1997, the shop has been run by Silvia and Leonardo Donnini, who manage the sales. Since September 2016, the shop has been located at Via Giovanni Lanza, 70, in Florence.
