History
Since 1810
The origins of the apothecary’s shop in Piazza San Felice date back at least to the 15th century and are documented in the Florentine land registry of 1427. In 1498, again according to the data reported in the land registry, the apothecary’s shop was located in the same place and belonged to Bartolo di Giovanni, apothecary. Since the 18th century, the history of the pharmacy is confused with that of the Grand Duke’s apothecary’s shop, which seems to have been moved from Palazzo Pitti to Piazza San Felice at the same time as the building called “Meridiana” was constructed in Boboli. In the first decades of the 19th century, it was run by Gaspero di Giovacchino Puliti, former apothecary of Grand Duke Ferdinand III.
