History
Since 1971, la fondazione, Lisio fondò la manifattura nel 1906
Manifattura Arte della Seta Lisio was founded in 1906 thanks to Giuseppe Lisio with the opening of a workshop and a store in Florence. In the early 1920s, the workshop moved to Milan, where a shop was also opened, exporting all over Europe, and in 1933 a store was also opened in Paris. In 1943 production was interrupted until after the war, when the business resumed under the management of Giuseppe’s nephew, Teodoro Olivieri, and then Giuseppe’s daughter, Fidalma, who, in 1958, bought the headquarters on Via Benedetto Fortini in Florence, which became the sole site of the business in 1960. In 1971, Fidalma Lisio established the Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio with the intention of passing on her ancient art. In 2001, on the death of Fidalma, the last heir of the family, the Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio that she created continued its mission of creating fine fabrics, velvets, and brocades by hand on antique Jacquard looms, for restoring rooms and antique furniture, or for haute couture or liturgical or ceremonial clothing.
