History

Since 1919

The ancient Pensione Burchianti, originally located on Via del Giglio no. 6 in an eighteenth-century palace owned by the Marquis Bartolini Salimbeni, was moved to the adjoining Palazzo Castiglioni (14th century) with the name “Hotel Burchianti” as of January 1, 2001. During the first years of the 1900s, the pension began operating as a guesthouse. In 1936, the hotel continued, under the management of the Burchianti sisters, to host Swiss boarders of good family visiting Florence, as well as illustrious clients of the time, among whom Gabriele D’Annunzio stands out. The current management has tried to maintain the historical memory of the pension by using the old pension furniture such as rococo style furniture, carpets, porcelain, and silverware.
