Hotel Cestelli

History

Since 1935

Hotel Cestelli is located at Borgo SS. Apostoli, 25, in a 14th-century building that was once the residence of Archbishop Altoviti and later, during the 16th century, the studio of Cosimo II de’ Medici. To this day, a bust of Cosimo, dating back to 1620, can be found in a niche on the facade. In 1935, the apartment on the first floor was converted into “affittacamere” (room rentals) by Ada Cestelli in Lorini. The property later became known as “Soggiorno Cestelli” in the 1950s, and the name has been preserved to the present day as Hotel Cestelli.

The building’s current owners, the Cestelli-Becattini family, managed the business for many years. The current proprietor, Alessio Lotti, took over the management in 2004. The hotel is situated in one of the most charming areas of Florence’s historic center, adjacent to Via de’ Tornabuoni and just steps from the Ponte Vecchio. Intimate and family-run, Hotel Cestelli retains the charm of the past with its antique furnishings, creative decorations, and attention to detail.
