History

Since 1915

The hotel makes the tourist’s stay a holistic experience, offering the possibility of living in the rooms of a typical Florentine palace in one of the most iconic squares of the historic centre. The building that houses the hotel was built between 1516 and 1525 to plans by Antonio da Sangallo il Vecchio and Baccio d’Agnolo, in harmony with the Spedale degli Innocenti built by Filippo Brunelleschi. The complex was purchased by the Budini Gattai family in the mid-nineteenth century and converted into apartments. At the beginning of the 20th century, the civic no. 3 housed the Pensione Morandi. In 1984, the business was taken over by the Gattai family, who started a restoration project and restored the 16th and 18th century structures partially altered over the centuries.
