Hotel Westin Excelsior

History

Since 1927

The hotel was established in 1928 by the merger of two contiguous hotels with the name of Hotel Excelsior d’Italie. The architect of this transformation was Geraldo Kraft, an experienced Swiss hotelier. Initially the hotel had 170 rooms. In 1958, the Kraft family sold it to the C.I.G.A. company; later, it was incorporated into the Sheraton chain, which in turn was incorporated into Strawood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide. The structure that houses the hotel has had various and illustrious owners over the centuries who have preserved the elegance and harmony of the property.
