History
Since 1926-1927
Every day, La Mescita offers a different menu that includes a few dishes made with fresh products purchased at the market by the owner Alessio Bravi, who is the spokesman of an ancient tradition.Situated on the road that joins the market of San Lorenzo with the market of Sant’Ambrogio, which until the ‘50s was frequented by gardeners, farmers, and carters, the shop was founded around 1927 as a place to welcome workers from the two main markets. Initially dedicated to the serving and retailing of wine, oil, and liqueurs, during its more than ninety years of business, the restaurant has maintained its peculiarities, specialising, since the ‘70s, in catering, becoming first a tavern and then a trattoria faithful to the Florentine tradition. The interior furnishings: characterised by a long bench with a wooden backrest leaning against a wall covered in majolica and small tables with granite tops and stools, are original, while the wooden shop window enriches the street front.
