History

Since 1948

La Libreria Salimbeni, founded in 1948 after transforming a previous second-hand bookstore from the 1930s, initially specialized in the sale of used school textbooks. Over time, the business evolved and focused on the trade of art and antique books. It also embraced mail-order sales by publishing catalogs that covered a wide range of subjects, from history and religion to Italian literature and local history.

Some of the catalogs have become important bibliographic references, particularly those dedicated to Futurism, the Risorgimento, 20th-century Italian literature, Pinocchio and Collodi, children’s literature, and exhibition catalogs on art. The library continues to be a key reference for collectors, scholars, and enthusiasts of rare and specialized literature.
