History
Since 1946
Macelleria Vignoli, which opened in 1946, is located in one of the liveliest and busiest squares in the district: Piazza San Pier Maggiore, the junction between the Santa Croce district and the streets leading to the Duomo and Piazza Signoria. This old butcher’s-chicken shop also boasts a first: it was here, it seems, that the turkey breast was born. The shop in San Pierino was in fact the first chicken shop to cut up the turkey and Rolando Vignoli gave the name “fesa” to the breast, a name now used in all butchers in Italy. Today it is a chicken shop/butcher that specialises in selected and top-quality products: Florentine steaks, rabbits, chickens, offal, homemade sausages, but also appetizing and tempting ready-made dishes, as well as Chianti Classico wine and single-cultivar olive oil from the Casalone Vignoli di San Casciano farm.
