The haberdashery was opened in 1929 by the grandfather of the current owner, Guido Galli, in the Gavinana district (in Piazza Gavinana, at the corner with Via Giovanni delle Bande Nere). Guido’s three sons (Franco, Alberto, and Renzo) continued the family business by opening three haberdashery shops in Florence. Currently, two of these shops are still active, managed by the grandchildren Silvia Galli (of the haberdashery in question) and her cousin Tiziano Galli. Silvia’s father, Renzo, continued the haberdashery business in the 3rd district with his own shop, which he opened in 1966 on Via di Ripoli. Silvia worked with her father from the age of sixteen, and in 2004, she took over as the owner of the business, marking the transition to the third generation.
