History
Since 1962
La Merceria was established in 1962 in the Gavinana area (South Florence) by Mrs. Elena Guidoni. Passed down from generation to generation, the store offers threads, yarns, embroidery materials, buttons, and everything needed for sewing. Overcoming the flood of 1966 and starting from scratch, Mrs. Elena and her husband, who worked as a tailor in the back of the shop, became a reference point for seamstresses and sewing enthusiasts in the area and beyond. In December 1982, the business was sold to Franco Nutini, who had been working wholesale in the mercery sector for years. On January 15, 1983, the store changed management, but continued the tradition and passion for embroidery, sewing, knitting, and crochet.
