History

Since 1916

The “Migone” shop was founded in 1916 in Florence on Via del Proconsolo, almost on the corner of Piazza del Duomo. In 1915, there was a shop on Via Calzaiuoli that sold items to benefit soldiers on the front and when, at the end of the war, the opportunity presented itself, the Migone family bought it. Ms Fiammetta Lucii Migone, who had worked as a young girl as a confectionery saleswoman, had always wanted to open her own business in the centre of Florence. Her husband, Ferdinando Migone, made her dream come true when he facilitated the opening of the shops. In 1919, the shop moved from Via del Proconsolo to Via Calzaiuoli and officially opened on 29 June 1919. Over the years, only the shop on Via Calzaiuoli remained open, where their two daughters had also started working: Gianna and Lyda. In 1985, the grandchildren began working there, and now great-grandchildren too: four generations, as well as Ms Lyda’s daughter-in-law.
