Giovanni Mugnai opened the business in the Alla Pietra area, with the sale of wrapping paper, matches, candles, oil lamp wicks, ropes and string, curry combs, horse-brushes and everything necessary for horse care, as well as wine vinegar that Mugnai produced and sold in barrels. After some unavoidable generational changes and the transfer to the current premises, in 1943 the company ceased operations and the building was even used as an air-raid shelter. After the end of the war, the business resumed with the addition of office supplies. At the end of the ’70s, the shop reached the fifth generation with Carlo and Paolo. They adapted the shop to the times, transforming it into a well stocked stationery, technical, and computer equipment retail store and one of the best places for buying gifts. At the beginning of 2000, the Mugnai brothers founded the Società Magna Charta, also opening a large warehouse in Campi Bisenzio for the storage and shipping of goods for Florence and all of Tuscany, especially specialising in office supplies.
