History

Since 1948

Ottica Tulini was founded in 1961 by Renzo Tulini, who after 13 years of working at the Cerratelli Optics store, decided to open his own optical shop in the space that once housed the Sbolci family’s flower shop. Just a few years after opening, in 1966, the tragic flood of Florence severely impacted Ottica Tulini. However, with great determination and thanks to the resilience of his wife Anna Maria, the business recovered and moved to a neighboring space at number 13/15 r of Via Bufalini, which is now protected by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. This building is famous for being the site where the magnificent Baptistery Doors were created, as evidenced by a plaque displayed on the building.

In 1997, Renzo’s son, Leonardo, took over the business. The shop, in addition to being a pioneer in optics, optometry, and contactology, specializes in the fields of Meteorology, Microscopy, and Geodesy.
