The historic Forno Canapa was founded by Ms Ida Canapa around the 1930s next to the San Lorenzo Market, on Via dell’Ariento, in the premises that once housed a vegetable garden. At that time, the bakery produced bread, “schiacciata”, and some pastry specialties. In the 50s, Ms Ivana Bruschi, started working in the shop until she took over the business in the following decade. A few years later, in 1966, the tragic Florence flood hit the bakery hard, but Ms Ivana was able to restore the business that is still a landmark in the historic Quarter of San Lorenzo.
