The Studiolo Ponziani has been active in the artisan district of San Frediano since the late 1800s, standing out among the many workshops in Florence for its particular expertise in using ancient techniques for the restoration of gilded and lacquered furniture from various eras and origins. Immediately after the war, leveraging knowledge of old craftsmanship techniques that many considered outdated, Mario Ponziani began to supplement the restoration work with the artisan production of furniture that faithfully reproduced the charm and uniqueness of precious objects from the past. Soon, the production of Mauro and Maurizio Ponziani, later joined by Simone, began to be appreciated by architects and interior designers worldwide, guiding the company toward continuous production of complete furnishings made to order and based on specific projects. The archive of works created by the Ponziani firm, a heritage of its centuries-old activity, is open for viewing in the fascinating workshop on Via Santo Spirito, in the heart of the San Frediano artist district, where the culture of beautifully and well-made objects is passed on through a constant focus on training apprentices in the use of the oldest techniques of craftsmanship, production, and restoration.
