Famous throughout the world for its porcelain, the production of which is still located in Sesto Fiorentino.
The renowned Richard Ginori porcelain shop, located since 1802 on the ground floor of Palazzo Ginori, was designed in the 1800s in 16th century style based on the houses of the Carnesecchi family. The author of Pinocchio, Carlo Lorenzini, aka Collodi, lived in this palace. Son of the cook and maid of the Marquis Ginori, he was later a guest of his brother who became administrator of the factory. The shop initially exclusively sold porcelain produced by the Doccia porcelain manufactory, a company founded in 1735 by the Marquis Ginori. Over the years, sales were extended to other prestigious high-quality brands. In 1896 Carlo Benedetto Ginori merged his company with Richard Ginori, thus creating the present company, famous all over the world for the refinement and style of the objects it produces. In 2013 the company was purchased by the Gucci Group.
