Pasquale Romanelli, the best student of the Florentine sculptor Lorenzo Bartolini, was called upon to complete his unfinished work when the master died in 1850. At the entrance of the studio, located in the former eighteenth-century church of the Archangel Raphael at number 70 Borgo San Frediano, there is a commemorative plaque, placed in 1922. Five generations have passed since the death of Pasquale Romanelli. Today, having reached the sixth generation and saved this space from the degradation that threatened to destroy an important piece of early twentieth century Florence, Folco’s son, Raffaello, has created a school of sculpture and painting in these premises that he runs with the collaboration of his brother Vincenzo. The brothers create works on commission, from portraits to monumental statues.
