Since 1965
In 1965, Romano Briccolani founded the eponymous artisan upholstery shop, initially located on Via Martini in Florence. The gradual increase in clientele and changing market demands led the owner to move his workshop to its current location at 110 Via Alessandro D’Ancona, still within the same neighborhood. In 1979, he became one of the founding members of the Consorzio Tappezzieri Fiorentini, a cooperative of skilled artisans that still exists today. From 1979 to 1983, the business specialized, through manufacturing activities, in the creation of handmade spring and wool mattresses. Always keeping up with the times, the company later specialized in the assembly and installation of awnings, ranging from single villas to entire apartment buildings. In December 2001, Romano Briccolani retired and passed the business on to his son, Gianluca. In 2002, the business name changed from “Romano Briccolani” to “Tappezzeria Fiorentina.” The retail space was fully renovated in 2009.
