History

Since 1947

Tessilarte was founded in 1947 through the ingenuity of Vittoria Camerino Martinetti, a great scholar and enthusiast of weaving, who created an artisanal company in Florence dedicated to the production of home linen fabrics made from pure linen using ancient hand looms. The linen produced was different, with strong and unusual colors and contrasts, and modern, innovative designs. In recognition of its avant-garde work, Tessilarte was awarded a prize at the 1957 Triennale in Milan.

Many years have passed, and the old looms no longer work, but at the company’s headquarters, there remains a large collection of these looms as a testament to ancient craftsmanship. The name Tessilarte has always been synonymous with a distinctive style, which today is created and designed by Paola Martinetti Graziano, the daughter of Vittoria. The collections for the table feature a hundred different shades of linen, woven, embroidered, and applied. For the bed, precious jacquard satins are woven from pure Egyptian Makò cotton, with a wide variety of designs, all coordinated to create a harmonious fusion of decoration and style throughout the home.
