History

Since 1962

The family business of Bar Pasticceria Marchionne was founded in 1962, when Angelo and Gabriella Marchionne, originally from Pescara, arrived in Florence after spending several years in Venezuela. Together with Angelo’s father, Franco, they took over the Bar Nannoni located in Piazza Leon Battista Alberti, near the historic Villa Arrivabene, and began their management on September 12, 1962. In 1966, following the flood that struck Florence, they resumed their activity and expanded it by acquiring a tobacco license. The business was further developed in 1975 with the addition of a laboratory for in-house pastry production. The business is now managed by Riccardo and Gianfranco, Angelo’s sons, with Riccardo handling public service and administrative tasks, while Gianfranco is responsible for pastry production. Angelo and Gabriella, now retired, continue to be the backbone of the bar and pastry shop.
