Since 1881

The Bruscoli company was established in 1881 by Egisto Bruscoli and was then passed on to his son Francesco, who was wholly dedicated to artistic bookbinding and book restoration. Piero and Giuseppe Bruscoli continued the business of their father Francesco by developing business relations with the United States, England, Germany, France, Japan, and South Africa. In 1958, Paolo Bruscoli took over the business increasing the production of leather goods and continuing the restoration of antique books. At the invitation of the Biblioteca Laurenziana he opened his own restoration workshop inside the Monastero di San Lorenzo to work on volumes that could not be transported outside. In 1966, the shop was flooded but after only three months, the Bruscoli company was involved in the recovery and restoration of the works collected in the Biblioteca Nazionale. Until a few years ago, the business was run by Ginevra Bruscoli. It has now been taken over by Minako Saito, who maintains the ancient working techniques, dedicating herself to bookbinding and to the artisan production of leather goods of various types.
