History

Since 1820, 5 luglio

As long ago as 5 July 1820, Giuseppe Antonio Bianda, from the Swiss Canton Ticino where knives have always been produced, bought a business in Via della Vigna Nuova 86/r, to pursue his profession of grinding agricultural and craftsmanship tools. Perhaps the choice fell on this location because it was equipped with a well that would provide the water necessary for the operation of the grinding wheels. Later, they introduced the trade of a few pocket knives, which were, at the time, used in the workplace for frugal bread and cheese meals. It was only at the beginning of the 20th century that Anatolio, great-grandson of Giuseppe Antonio, strengthened the business with a wider assortment of articles of both Italian and foreign manufacture. The management continues with the great-grandchildren of Anatolio Bianda, who took it over in ‘93 after it had been sold following the death of his grandfather in ‘77.
