Since 1752
Founded in 1752, the period of Renaissance Florence, the pharmacy was the location for a series of scientific demonstrations conducted by the doctor Girolamo Niccolò Branchi della Torre, which led to his commission to open the first school of modern chemistry in Pisa on behalf of the Grand Duke of Tuscany. In the mid-nineteenth century, it became a meeting place for intellectuals and poets, thus fostering the cultural and political debate of the time. As an “apothecary’s shop”, today the Farmacia del Cinghiale still prepares natural recipes to care for the body’s health and beauty, combining the experiences of the past based on the use of natural products with modern avant-garde techniques.
