Fuori le Mura

History

Since 1928

During World War I, Vittorio Bellandi, the grandfather of the current owner, a decorated soldier with a war cross for his merits on the battlefield, met a sergeant who, in his spare time between battles, made extra money by repairing watches for his comrades and officers. Vittorio became fascinated by watchmaking, slowly learning the craft from his friend. After the war, Vittorio worked as a postman, but eventually, his passion for watches took over. In 1928, he opened a watchmaking shop in Via Gioberti, where he repaired watches, clocks, old pendulums, and even fixed the springs of old wind-up gramophones and roasting spits. Over time, he began to sell watches and small jewelry items as well. As his children grew, they joined him in the shop, learning the trade. In 1950, one of his sons, Walter, father of the current owner, opened a branch just a hundred meters from the original shop in Via Gioberti. Walter developed the business, turning it into a high-quality jewelry store, offering both handmade jewelry and prestigious watch brands. In 1975, Walter’s son Marco, the current owner, joined the family business, professionally preparing himself by attending courses on diamonds, pearls, and watches. In 1983, Marco and Walter acquired a property in Via Gioberti, where they moved the business. There, Marco and his wife continue the jewelry and watchmaking business, adding the sale of diamonds for investment purposes and high-end watch repairs. Marco’s son, Cristiano, freshly graduated, is now starting to get involved in the family business, showing great aptitude for the work of a jeweler and watchmaker.
