History
Since 1937
Otello Taddei opened an artisanal workshop in the Pignone district in 1937, after learning the trade from master Florentine leatherworker in the 1920s and 1930s. In the 1950s, the business continued in collaboration with Otello’s son Giampaolo and together they moved the business to Piazza Pitti.
This new location better showcases their work, which is now also highly regarded by a large foreign clientele, who increasingly demand their products. In the early 1980s, Simone, Giampaolo’s son, joined his father and grandfather in running the workshop. For some years, the three generations worked together. In 1993, the company was moved to Via Santa Margherita, in the present location, which is now run by Simone who continues to work with the precise techniques developed by his grandfather, still using the old work tools that have been part of the workshop equipment since 1937.
