Since 1957
La Casalinga was founded in 1956 by the Cepparolli brothers. In 1963, Giovanni Cepparolli, who remained alone in managing the restaurant, proposed that Oliviero Carrai, grandfather of the current owner, should join the company. Oliviero then moved with his wife and children to Florence and started working in the trattoria. A year later, Giovanni left the business, letting Nello Bartarelli take over, another grandfather of the current owner. The company thus became Carrai & Bartarelli S.N.C.. The wives of the two owners alternated in taking care of and supervising the kitchen, bringing with them the authentic flavours, simple recipes, and substantial dishes from the countryside that, as Nello used to say, “help the mouth to carry the legs”.
