Santo Spirito

History

Since 1987

Sergio Ugolini, after having learned the trade in his father’s workshop, decided to start a new workshop on Via del Presto di San Martino in 1950, a stone’s throw from the Church of Santo Spirito, one of the fulcrums of the busy Oltrarno area. If initially the work consisted mainly in the restoration of antique objects or common use tools, today the main business is that of bronzing and hand-pulled copper plates. In this now historic workshop, high-quality artistic objects are made, such as vases and cantilevered basins, with a particular focus on antique models. Along this street, there used to be seventeen craftsmen: two cabinetmakers, a trumpet maker, engraver, upholsterer, carpenter, decorator, painter, turner, silversmith, leatherworker, chiseller, smelter, bronzesmith, and tinsmith.
